What to Bring
Making a DESIGN APPOINTMENT with us? Sweet! That’s where the fun begins and the creative juices start flowing! There are a few items and some bits of information you will need to bring along that will not only be helpful in planning your design, but will also help us keep focused on your planned budget.
Measurements
How much tile are we talking about here? By bringing in the measurement of the area you would like to tile, we can calculate how many square feet you need. We can then take that number and plug in different priced materials so you will know what price range best fits your budget. Knowing the square feet of a project also helps us decide on things like proper scale and the best lay-out for the product you have chosen.
Inspiration
Show me your Pinterest file and I’ll show you mine! A photo is worth, well you know, a LOT of words so, come with some inspirational pins or a magazine photo or a pic of your best friend’s shower. That helps us figure out what floats your boat and we can show you things that will give the same look or feel that caught your eye.
Samples
Cabinet sample, counter top samples, paint swatches, your favorite throw pillow. What? A pillow? Why not. If you love the color, the print…we can use that for a starting point for inspiration. Maybe you have a spare piece of the existing floor tile you are trying to pair a new wall tile with. BRING IT!
Photos of Existing Project
Doing a kitchen back splash? Take a photo of each wall. You know your house but we know tile. We can build a part list from your photos. That way you won’t have to give a blank stare when we ask: “How many inches between your cabinet and the window?” “Do you need to turn any outside corners?” “How many linear inches will you need of a finished edge?” This goes 2x for designing a walk in shower…so many details to think about.
Other things that we will ask are “What year was your house built?” “What style are you wanting: Contemporary? Traditional? Rustic? Mountain Contemporary? Farm House?” Give some thought to what the overall feeling and style goal is. You have no clue? That’s where we come in! Don’t be shy. We’ll fill you in on all this during your design appointment.
