Durable, non-slip, zero-maintenance outdoor flooring that withstands Salt Lake City’s weather and heavy loads.
At Tile For Less in Salt Lake City, Utah, we offer a superior alternative to traditional concrete pavers: porcelain pavers. These high-performance tiles combine the classic appeal of traditional pavers with advanced engineering that delivers unmatched durability, safety, and style for your outdoor projects.
Porcelain pavers are super strong, durable, and non-porous, making them the best choice for any of your outdoor projects. Paver tiles are basically a really thick version of regular porcelain tile, measuring 2cm thick and specifically engineered for extreme weather variations and heavy-duty exterior use. Porcelain pavers are exceptionally resistant to freeze-thaw cycles, do not fade with prolonged sun exposure, and can handle very heavy loads such as wet snow or even the weight of a vehicle. That’s right, you can park your car on these 2cm pavers! Unlike natural stone pavers, these porcelain ones are completely uniform in size and thickness, making them easier to work with and install than natural stone pavers, which saves money and time. Our porcelain pavers come in so many different sizes too! The most commonly used are 24″ x 24″, 12″ x 24″, 24″ x 48″, and wood-look pavers come in plank sizes like 16″ x 48″.
Not only are porcelain pavers exceptionally hardy, they don’t require any maintenance. Unlike wood, concrete, or composite materials, pavers are resistant to stains, moss, mold, and are unaffected by salt and chemicals. They never need to be sealed or refinished! NEVER. Our porcelain pavers here at Tile For Less have what is called an R-11 rating for the surface, which means they provide the maximum amount of slip resistance in wet or icy conditions. The R-11 surface finish makes the pavers the best material choice for decks, patios, and pools or anywhere where safety is a concern.
Pavers can be used as a patio, as decking material, they are the best swimming pool decking out there, and we have even used them in several projects as roof decking over a TPO liner! The large format pavers make great stair treads, and I’ve even seen the wood-look pavers used as planter boxes!
Install the 2cm pavers on grade to create a garden patio. This method involves digging down to proper depth, laying weed barrier, then a layer of locking road base that gets tamped down. Next, sand is spread over the top of the road base and is angled at ¼” per foot slope for drainage. The pavers are then set on top using spacers of your choice. We recommend 1/8″ inch space. A specialized edging is used to hold the pavers in place around the perimeter, then the 1/8″ joint between the pavers gets filled in with polymeric sand that has several fashionable color options.
Porcelain pavers are the most durable option for a deck covering as well. They can be set over a waterproof liner using a pedestal system. The pedestals allow for proper slope and drainage under the pavers while not interfering with the liner. It’s an easy do-it-yourself process too!
Porcelain pavers can look like any popular outdoor hardscape material. They come in surfaces finished identical to all sorts of natural stone such as Pennsylvania bluestone, vein-cut travertine, slate, or sandstone. Porcelain pavers are less expensive to purchase than their natural stone look-alikes and are less expensive to install. Is it a wood look you’re after? Pavers are also made to perfectly mimic the look and warmth of real wood and will normally come in 12″ x 48″ planks. For an updated contemporary look, there are porcelain pavers that mimic terrazzo, stained concrete, or are available in an array of solid colors sure to match any outdoor design. Some of our pavers come in multiple sizes such as 12″ x 12″, 12″ x 24″, and 24″ x 24″, which makes it easy to create a multi-size pattern design for your outdoor space.
