Granite Surfaces
About Granite Surfaces
Extremely hard and dense igneous rock having a visibly crystalline texture; generally composed of granular flecks of feldspar and mica and quartz spread consistently throughout the stone. It comes in a vast array of colors. Granite slabs are often fabricated for use as solid surface counter tops and such surfaces. As with all natural stones, it does need to be sealed to maintain color and resist mildew. Granite is considered the most dense and hard working stone and is used widely in residential and commercial applications.

Description
Granite is extensively used as flooring tiles in commercial and residential applications. Polished granite is a popular choice for kitchen countertops due to its high durability and aesthetic qualities. Granite is decorative and functional. Granite pieces are often cut into tiles, 12″ x 12″ and 3/8″ thick. Because granite tiles are so hard and durable, they can be used on floors, walls, counters and ceilings throughout the home and business. Marble, limestone and travertine are more susceptible to scratching and staining, while granite is more dense and can therefore be used from high traffic walkways to showers with less concern for wear.
