About Marble Surfaces
Marble is a hard, crystalline, metamorphic rock formed by alteration of limestone or dolomite, often irregularly colored by impurities. Marble is both durable and beautiful and can stand heavy use but can be stained or scratched. More commonly used for fireplace mantels, counter tops or as flooring, it can also be used on the exterior of a building.

Description
Marble is stone that has been transformed from other stone, limestone specifically. Some marble tiles are so inherently weak that fiberglass mesh is attached to their backs to strengthen them. Marble is soft and it will scratch easily. It may not be best used in areas of high traffic. Marble floors will also oxidize if not regularly cleaned and polished. Marble, since it is primarily limestone, is susceptible to acids like citric acid, vinegar or wine. Marble needs to be sealed for best wear and maintenance of original color and beauty. For these reasons, marble will require special care in a shower due to waterborne minerals and chemicals used in bath soaps and shampoos. Marble is beautiful and elegant. A front entryway or fireplace surround would be a great installations for marble.
